The Challenge
When we started, the challenge was very much around facilitating communication within the series and planning for crisis management. The challenge goes beyond traditional event control management and reaches across the whole event from inception to post-event analysis.
Action
Each event starts with meticulous safety planning and stakeholder engagement led by Controlled Events which leads to inter-agency and partner communications for feedback into these plans. Controlled Events represent SailGP throughout this process to ensure the most accurate and effective safety plans are in place and are improved upon for each event. This is further advanced with inter-agency table-top exercises and internal training.

The Results
Controlled Events help us to provide consistency from one event to another, by providing planning and documentation templates and adapting them to the local environment. With Controlled Events we have a group of individuals that are completely focused on making sure our event is well planned from a control point of view and well executed, taking some of the workload away from the operations team. We always know that there is an entity working for SailGP that is responsible for making sure that our communication is fluid and our engagement of stakeholders is the best it can be.
