Context & Background
<p>Limelight Sports required a flexible mix of event support services across several major events including Regatta London, Royal Parks Half Marathon and Blenheim Palace Triathlon.</p>
<p>The organisation required operational planning support, event control management systems, readiness exercising and experienced control room resource to support the safe delivery of complex public events.</p>
The Challenge
Limelight Sports required a combination of event control software, readiness exercises, event control management support and operational planning across multiple events.
Challenging weather conditions, protest risk and the impact of COVID 19 during 2019 and 2020 created additional operational pressures, making robust communication, coordination and audit trail management critical throughout event delivery.

Approach & Solution
Controlled Events worked closely with Limelight Sports to prepare realistic exercise scenarios with input from event partners and stakeholders, delivering multi agency readiness exercises across several major events.
The ECR Manager platform was used throughout operations to capture key decisions, maintain situational awareness and support effective communication within event control teams.
Controlled Events also provided on site operational support, helping event teams quickly familiarise themselves with systems and procedures while remaining available throughout event weekends to support any operational challenges.

Outcomes & Impact
Controlled Events supported Limelight Sports through challenging operational periods involving adverse weather, protest risk and COVID 19 related pressures.
The event control support and ECR Manager platform enabled robust audit trail management, improved operational coordination and provided users with an intuitive system that could quickly be adopted or re-familiarised during live events.
The success of the event support and readiness exercises strengthened the relationship with Limelight Sports and led to further event support requirements for 2021.
