Advanced Control Room Operations Management Course
Two-Day ACROM Course
A well-managed Control Room is the backbone of any effective operational or incident response. Whether managing a live event or responding to a critical situation, Control Room personnel and Event Managers must be equipped to gather information swiftly, prioritise confidently, make sound decisions under pressure, and communicate the plan clearly.
Control Rooms often bring together professionals from different disciplines for short, high-intensity periods. These teams frequently have limited shared experience in managing live incidents, making it challenging to function as a cohesive and coordinated unit from the outset.
Our Advanced Control Room Operations Management (ACROM) Course is designed to meet this challenge head-on and is aimed at those Managers that have completed the two day Control Room Operations Management course and now want to develop and hone their skills and knowledge further. Through practical frameworks and half of the course dedicated to scenario-based training, we help teams develop the skills, confidence, and shared language required to perform effectively — even in the most demanding environments.
Why You Need the ACROM Course
Our course will provide you with the right knowledge and opportunity to develop skills with a simulation exercise and with workbook resources to develop and embed improved procedures in your Control Room. The course has been developed and is led by experienced professionals from emergency management, security, and event backgrounds, bringing together expertise from UK and global incident management and control room operations.
The ACROM course provides advanced Control Room personnel with four key areas of development:
Step Up to Senior-Level Readiness
Gain high‑value insights into human performance, tactical leadership, and advanced crisis management—essential for those progressing into supervisory or senior operational roles. The course enhances your confidence, decision‑making, and ability to manage teams in dynamic environments.
Experience a True-to-Life Control Room Simulation
Half of the course is spent inside the award‑winning Coventry University Simulation Centre, where you’ll operate within a realistic control room environment featuring:
- Live multi‑phase simulation exercises
- 10‑metre curved screen and immersive audio with trainees in two groups to explore control room and on the ground functions
- Real-time role-players and scenario injects
This environment builds the muscle memory and composure needed for real‑world incidents.
Master Advanced Tools & Technologies
Work hands‑on with leading control room equipment—including advanced radio functionality from 2CL, professional logging systems, alerting and public address tools from Crowdguard, and roll‑call technology—giving you a level of capability that sets you apart from peers.
Sharpen Your Team Management & Performance Skills
Dive deeper into behavioural, cognitive, and environmental factors that influence effective team performance. Strengthen your ability to lead, communicate, and coordinate under pressure, enhancing both personal and organisational resilience
